The Center for the Study of Women|Streisand Center is dedicated to creating a safe and accessible space for everyone who participates in our events and programs.
The UCLA Center for Accessible Education also provides resources on Planning Accessible Events.
Please be aware that UCLA is a smoke and tobacco free campus. More information can be found on the BreatheWell website.
Interpreters and live captioning are available by request for CSW|Streisand Center events. Requests can be made up to two weeks before the event by emailing csw@csw.ucla.edu.
UCLA students registered with the Center for Accessible Education may also be able to request these services through your CAE counselor.
Upon request, printed event material can be made available in enlarged type or braille, and speakers will be asked to describe all visual material in their presentations. Requests can be made up to two weeks before an event by emailing csw@csw.ucla.edu.
Wheelchair-accessible pathways, building entrances, and parking structure locations are indicated on the Campus Accessibility Map.
Information on regularly scheduled as well as reservable transportation options, including accessible busses and shuttles, is available from the Center for Accessible Education.
During former CSW Director Rachel C. Lee’s tenure, CSW pursued a fragrance-free initiative. As part of the initiative, all CSW events were fragrance-free. We asked all participants to refrain from wearing scented products such as perfumes/colognes, hair products, cosmetics, and scented lotions while attending CSW events. We also requested participants to avoid using scented soaps, shampoos, and detergents prior to the event, as these products can trigger serious health issues for those with fragrance allergies and/or chemical sensitivities. CSW provided fragrance-free seating sections for those who required an additional precaution during an event. When possible, fragrance-free hand soap was provided in restrooms for the use of all CSW guests. While the initiative is now archived, CSW is happy to accommodate fragrance-free needs upon request, as part of our commitment to make our events inclusive and accessible.
More information on being fragrance-free can be found on our Share the Air page. You are also welcome to download our free toolkit “Accessible Spaces: A Fragrance-Free Toolkit.”
Curious about why going fragrance-free is important? Want to make your space more accessible? Our new toolkit makes the answers easy to find and provides helpful tips and resources. Consult the toolkit.
If you require an accommodation not mentioned here in order to participate in our event, please do not hesitate to contact us at csw@csw.ucla.edu.
Special thanks to Gracen Brilmyer for advising and drafting language on our accessibility policies.
