Learn about past research from the UCLA Center for the Study of Women|Streisand Center.
The Research Affiliates Program supported selected independent scholars, local to the Los Angeles area, who were conducting research on women, sexuality, or gender and had limited institutional access to a research community. The research affiliate designation provided a CSW affiliation and title, expanded library access, and quarterly Brown Bag presentations, among other perks.
From 2010–2020, CSW initiated a series of publications to address policy issues in our mission areas of gender, sexuality, and women’s issues. CSW Policy Briefs featured outstanding applied feminist scholarship by graduate students and community partners.
Learn about our past research streams including Chemical Entanglements; Feminism and the Senses; Edible Feminisms: On Discard, Waste, and the Metabolisms; Dishing: Food, Feminism, and the Way We Eat; Life (Un)Ltd; Making Invisible Histories Visible; and Women’s Social Movement Activities in Los Angeles: 1960–1999.
The UCLA Activist-in-Residence program seeks to strengthen the infrastructure of social transformation by supporting local movement leaders, community organizers, and artists with university resources. Conceptualized as a sabbatical, the residency allows for time and space to reflect upon complex challenges, envision new campaigns and projects, and connect with university faculty, students, and staff.
