Statement on Iran
The UCLA Center for the Study of Women (CSW) stands alongside the UCLA Department of Gender Studies in solidarity with Iranian women in their protests against the terror and violence unleashed upon women by the Islamic regime. Women’s bodies are often the terrain on which oppressive states make themselves, whether by imposing the hijab or banning it, denying reproductive choice, or enabling sexual violence and terror against to take place with impunity. When we stand with our sisters in Iran we announce an anti-violence feminist politics that insists on the sovereignty of our bodies and that resists state violence and terror.
