HIRING: Undergraduate Student Worker – Graphic Design

The UCLA Center for the Study of Women (CSW) | Streisand Center has an opening for a part-time graphic design student worker. In collaboration with CSW | Streisand Center staff and student workers, this position will be responsible for the design and creation of all advertisements, flyers, publications, resources, social media, and other communications. As such, this position plays an important role in the branding and overall image of CSW | Streisand Center. This position will report to CSW | Streisand Center’s Management Services Officer.

Anticipated pay rate: $16.25/hour

Location

Hybrid work. Mostly remote with possible in-person work to assist with campus events.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design and create the center’s advertisements, flyers, publications, resources, social media, and other communications
  • In collaboration with the communications and marketing student worker, maintain the center’s visual and branding guidelines
  • Attend weekly staff meetings
  • Attend weekly check-in meeting with direct supervisor
  • Assist in other various administrative duties as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Job Qualifications

  • Knowledge, sensitivity, and understanding of intersectional feminist theory and practice and the relevant online communities
  • Proficiency using design software including Adobe Photoshop, In-Design, Illustrator and Acrobat
  • Must have at least some experience creating print and web graphics, flyers, and other promotional materials
  • Knowledge of Canva to create print and web graphics, flyers, and other promotional materials
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to conceptualize and implement projects
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently
  • Ability to meet deadlines and complete tasks in a timely manner
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 and currently enrolled in at least 12 units
  • Must be in good academic standing for the term prior to selection and during entire period of employment
  • Ability to follow instructions and accepts and applies constructive criticism with a positive attitude to improve performance

Ideal candidate has at least two more years remaining at UCLA (those graduating in June 2023 will not be considered). Students with a work-study award for the 2022–23 academic year are highly preferred.

These additional skills are a plus but not required (we are also looking for quick learners willing to learn these skills through CSW | Streisand Center mentorship): experience with WordPress and film editing/production software (i.e., Premier Pro). Normal hours of operation are 9am–5pm. These positions are eligible for telecommute/remote work. CSW | Streisand Center provides flexibility with schedule, but we may need the student (when their schedule permits) to staff periodic events that can sometimes end after 5pm.
