Call for Faculty Writing Retreat Grants AY26-27

The Center for the Study of Women|Barbra Streisand Center invites applications for funding to support self-organized writing retreats for UCLA faculty. Applicants must be willing to schedule and execute the retreat by June 30, 2027. If you need staff support, please reach out to your department staff to confirm their availability before submitting this application.

The amount is calculated per person and potential venue (see cost allowance below).

CRITERIA

  • Applicants must be UCLA senate faculty or non-senate faculty (with an active UCLA appointment during AY26-27). All others may inquire about eligibility (email rosa@women.ucla.edu).
  • Applicants who have not previously received a CSW|Streisand Center faculty writing retreat grant will be prioritized.
  • The writing retreats are to support majority UCLA faculty participants.
  • The writing retreat must be attended by at least five individuals.
  • Grants will only fund venue costs (up to $450/day) and meal costs (up to UCLA’s maximum reimbursement limits). Lodging is an ineligible expense. Other expense costs must be covered by other fund sources.
  • Recipients of the grant must agree to the following:
    • Execute the writing retreat by June 30, 2027
    • In the publication(s) that this grant support(s), please acknowledge the Center for the Study of Women|Barbra Streisand Center, Anderson School of Management, Herb Alpert School of Music, Division of Humanities, Division of Life Sciences, Division of Social Sciences, Division of Luskin School of Public Affairs, Samueli School of Engineering, School of Law, School of Theater, Film, and Television, and the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Creative Activities
    • Submit a brief (1 – 2 paragraphs) post-retreat report detailing number of participants, participant list (name, rank, department), and (projected) outcome, etc by June 30, 2027. These reports support CSW|Streisand Center’s requests for future funding commitments.

Materials must be submitted no later than 11:59 PM (PST) on Friday, November 20, 2026.
