Barbra Streisand Fellow Pamela Yeh Receives UCLA Graduate Mentoring Award

The UCLA Center for the Study of Women | Barbra Streisand Center is proud to celebrate Barbra Streisand Fellow in Environmental Justice Pamela Yeh on receiving the 2026 Faculty Award for Excellence in Graduate Student Mentoring from the UCLA Division of Graduate Education.

Each year, the Division of Graduate Education recognizes faculty members who demonstrate an exceptional commitment to mentoring graduate students. The award honors mentors whose guidance extends beyond formal advising to meaningfully support students as scholars, researchers, artists, and professionals. Award recipients are selected from a highly competitive pool of nominations and receive research funding, a commemorative plaque, and recognition at the annual Faculty Mentoring Award Ceremony.

This year’s ceremony took place on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at the California NanoSystems Institute.

An Associate Professor of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at UCLA, Professor Yeh is widely recognized for her thoughtful, student-centered mentorship and her dedication to equity, advocacy, and long-term student success. Students describe her mentorship as deeply personalized and future-focused, emphasizing the ways she encourages them to persevere through challenges, imagine new possibilities, and build meaningful careers.

The Division of Graduate Education noted that some of the most transformative parts of graduate education happen through mentorship: faculty mentors challenge students intellectually, support them through difficult moments, and help foster a sense of belonging in academic and professional spaces. Professor Yeh’s recognition reflects that lasting impact.

We congratulate Professor Yeh on this well-deserved honor and thank her for the care, generosity, and commitment she brings to mentoring the next generation of scholars and researchers.
