Announcing the 2024-2025 Annual Report

The UCLA Center for the Study of Women | Barbra Streisand Center is proud to share our 2024–2025 Annual Report, highlighting a year of impactful scholarship, community collaborations, and transformative programming.

This year marks an especially meaningful milestone as Grace Kyungwon Hong concludes her tenure as Director. In her farewell message, Hong reflects on the “culture of joy” that has defined CSW|Streisand Center—creating spaces of refuge, abundance, and intellectual community even in times of profound challenge.

Highlights from 2024–2025 include:

  • Feminist Anti-Carceral Studies advanced the UC Sentencing Project, supporting incarcerated writers at the California Institution for Women and publishing two poetry zines.
  • Sexual Violence and Intersectionality continued to strengthen Survivors+Allies, a UC-wide student organization advocating for survivor-centered resources.
  • The Gender and Water project published a report on gender and household water use in Los Angeles.
  • Romarilyn Ralston joined as our second Activist-in-Residence, leading workshops and advancing abolitionist feminist research.
  • The Thinking Gender 2025 Graduate Student Conference, organized by Associate Director Katherine Marino, explored the theme “Gendered Labors and Transnational Solidarities” through workshops, student presentations, and a keynote by Adriana Paz Ramirez.
  • We continued to foster transformative opportunities for scholars through research fellowships, faculty development programs, and cross-campus collaborations in reproductive justice, labor, and transnational feminist studies.

We also honor the memory of Dr. Sandra Harding (1943–2025), former CSW Director and internationally recognized feminist philosopher, whose pioneering work on standpoint theory and leadership at CSW leave a lasting legacy.

The Annual Report also provides a fiscal overview, a look at our faculty and staff, and documentation of the publications, events, and partnerships that shaped our work this year.
