Rosa Chung Receives 2025 Thomas E. Lifka Staff Excellence in Administrative Leadership Award
The UCLA Center for the Study of Women|Streisand Center is proud to announce that Rosa Chung, our Management Services Officer, has been selected as a recipient of the 2025 Thomas E. Lifka Staff Excellence in Administrative Leadership Award. This prestigious honor recognizes senior staff members in the Social Sciences Division whose work reflects sustained excellence, leadership, innovation, and outstanding service to their unit and the broader UCLA community.
As the manager and chief financial officer of CSW|Streisand Center, Rosa plays an indispensable role in the success of the Centers’ programs and missions. She leads and manages all core operational areas, including finance and budgeting, human resources, information technology, personnel and benefits, faculty and student recruitment, donor relations, grant and award administration, facilities, and event planning. Rosa also provides strategic administrative recommendations to the Center’s director and faculty leadership and supervises all employees and researchers.
In the five years that she’s served as CSW|Streisand Center’s MSO, Rosa has overseen a period of significant growth, managing the establishment of the Streisand Center, coordinating office renovations, hiring, onboarding, and training staff members, and coordinating multiple new research and faculty development initiatives. Most importantly, Rosa has cultivated a deep sense of community amongst the faculty, students, and staff at CSW|Streisand Center through her empathy, generosity, and creativity.

Rosa is constantly finding ways to make CSW|Streisand Center more effective, visionary, humane, caring, and joyful. We are fortunate to have her as not only the administrative lead but the heart and soul of our unit,” said CSW|Streisand Center Director Grace Hong.
The Thomas E. Lifka Staff Excellence Award, made possible through the generosity of Dr. Thomas E. Lifka and the UCLA Division of Social Sciences, recognizes staff members who demonstrate outstanding creativity, organizational ability, productivity, and teamwork. Rosa was selected as the top awardee in the Administrative Leadership category, receiving the highest honor of a $5,000 award.
