HIRING: Undergraduate Student Worker – Communications and Marketing

The UCLA Center for the Study of Women (CSW) | Streisand Center has an opening for a part-time communications and marketing student worker. In collaboration with CSW | Streisand Center staff and student workers, this position will be responsible for using the center’s website, email, and social media accounts to advertise the center’s events/programs, post educational materials and resources, and monitor all digital communications. This position will report to CSW | Streisand Center’s Management Services Officer.

Anticipated pay rate: $16.25/hour

Location

Hybrid work. Mostly remote with possible in-person work to assist with campus events.

Job Responsibilities

  • Promote the center’s events and programs through email, website, and social media, and print flyers, when applicable
  • Keep the center’s website up to date
  • Create the center’s Weekly Update newsletter
  • Monitor and moderate the center’s email and social media communications
  • Plan and maintain the center’s monthly social media strategy
  • Create content for the center’s social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter)
  • Review and present on quarterly social media analytics
  • In collaboration with the graphic design intern, maintain the center’s visual and branding guidelines
  • Attend weekly staff meetings
  • Attend weekly check-in meeting with direct supervisor
  • Assist in other various administrative duties as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Job Qualifications

  • Knowledge, sensitivity, and understanding of intersectional feminist theory and practice and the relevant online communities
  • Proficiency using Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter
  • Proficiency using Canva to create print and web graphics, flyers, and other promotional materials
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to conceptualize and implement projects
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently
  • Ability to meet deadlines and complete tasks in a timely manner
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 and currently enrolled in at least 12 units
  • Must be in good academic standing for the term prior to selection and during entire period of employment
  • Ability to follow instructions and accepts and applies constructive criticism with a positive attitude to improve performance

Ideal candidate has at least two more years remaining at UCLA (those graduating in June 2023 will not be considered). Students with a work-study award for the 2022–23 academic year are highly preferred.

These additional skills are a plus but not required (we are also looking for quick learners willing to learn these skills through CSW | Streisand Center mentorship): experience with WordPress, Adobe Acrobat, InDesign, and film editing/production software (i.e., Premier Pro). Normal hours of operation are 9am–5pm. These positions are eligible for telecommute/remote work. CSW | Streisand Center provides flexibility with schedule, but we may need the student (when their schedule permits) to staff periodic events that can sometimes end after 5pm.
