Streisand Center Events

"Event flyer for 'Climate Change Hates Mothers,' a talk and discussion hosted by UCLA CSW (Center for the Study of Women) and the Barbra Streisand Center, part of UCLA College Social Sciences. Monday, November 2, 12–1:30 PM, Rolfe Hall Room 2125, lunch provided. An illustration shows a woman with dark curly hair cradling a globe, standing between a barren, cracked desert landscape and a lush green hillside. Event description reads: 'Toxic exposures. Emergency evacuations. Endocrine disruption. Miscarriage. Threats to healthy pregnancies and safe births. Guilt, anxiety, depression, and grief. Climate change poses unique challenges to the health, well-being, and everyday lives of pregnant people, mothers, and those who would like to have children. This talk addresses those challenges - and highlights how birth workers, community organizers, and local elected officials are mobilizing to address maternal marginalization and seek policy.' A photo shows speaker Jade S. Sasser, PhD, smiling outdoors in a colorful patterned top, with trees and mountains in the background. Text identifies her as Professor of Environmental Studies at UC Riverside, with a bio noting she is in the Department of Society, Environment, and Health Equity, earned her PhD in Environmental Science, Policy, and Management from UC Berkeley, and her work explores climate change, maternal health, and reproductive justice through an intersectional lens. Bottom banner reads: 'Free. RSVP required' with link ClimateChangeHatesMothers.eventbrite.com."
