Kayla Boyden

Kayla Boyden is a second-year MA student in the African American Studies department at the University of California, Los Angeles. She is currently working on an MA thesis utilizing Black radical feminism to analyze Black contemporary poetics including traditional poetry and rap music as radical disruptions to conceptions subjectivity. Utilizing an interdisciplinary approach, Kayla utilizes methods and theories from various disciplines including English, Performance Studies, and Gender Studies. She received her bachelor’s degrees in English and African American Studies from the University of California, Irvine.
