DESCRIPTION:Feminist Approaches to Research\, Knowledge & Academic Culture With Dr. Sarah McCullough\, UC Davis Feminist Research Institute (FRI) \n\n\n\n\nFree • Lunch Provided \nDec 3\, 2026 1 pm – 2:30 pm \nCenter for the Study of Women|Barbra Streisand Center \n1500 Public Affairs\, UCLA \n\nHow do histories of eugenics\, colonialism\, and patriarchy continue to shape research? \nJoin the UC Davis Feminist Research Institute for a workshop exploring how feminist science studies can help us recognize and redress systemic biases in research and academic culture. \nFeminist Approaches to Improve Lab Culture\, Research Accuracy\, & Public Impact \nHow do histories of eugenics\, colonialism\, and patriarchy continue to shape research today? \nThis workshop offers faculty and researchers in all fields practical tools for recognizing how exclusionary histories influence research questions\, methodologies\, interpretation\, and academic environments. \nParticipants will explore how addressing systemic bias can: \n\nImprove the accuracy and impact of scientific research\nGenerate more innovative approaches to pressing contemporary issues\nCreate more equitable and welcoming research environments\nSupport junior scholars and strengthen lab culture\nTurn feminist insights into actionable research practices\n\nFacilitated discussion • Practical tools • Resources for action \nAbout the Facilitator\nSarah Rebolloso McCullough\, PhD\, runs the Feminist Research Institute at UC Davis\, whose mission is to transform research culture to be more accurate\, impactful\, and humanizing. She created the Asking Different Questions research training program\, which teaches feminist science & technology studies to justice-driven STEM researchers. She also conducts research in knowledge justice\, environmental justice\, mobility\, justice\, and university-community relations.
